Richard Wigglesworth makes his first appearance of Saracens’ pre-season campaign tonight, writes Matthew Hennessey.
The 31-year-old has been named at scrum-half as Saracens face the Ospreys at the HAC, kick-off 18h15, and after touring New Zealand with England during the summer, Wigglesworth returns to the Saracens starting XV alongside fellow England tourists Brad Barritt, Alex Goode and Bill Vunipola.
“I think we’ve had enough of being flogged in pre-season training, so it will be good to get out there and actually play some rugby,” said Wigglesworth on the eve of tonight’s game.
“It’s going to be our toughest pre-season game in my opinion. The Ospreys are a quality outfit and playing them will show us what we need to work on going into the Wasps game at Twickenham on September 6”.
He added; “We’re ready to get going now and it’s all the better that it’s at the HAC, as we get to play at that wonderful setting once again. We’re lucky that we get the chance to pull on the Saracens shirt there once or twice a year and play in front of a different audience in such a unique setting”.
