Sarrie & Wolfgang – It’s a Duel
Warring mascots Sarrie the Camel and Wolfgang, the wolf, met with senior club officials at Allianz Park this morning, and failed to resolve their differences.
Club spokesman Harry Murray said; “This has become the biggest crisis at Saracens since 2009. We hoped to find common ground between the two parties but this proved impossible. Sarrie is adamant that he should be the one and only club mascot and, for his part, Wolfgang believes he is the personification of the new Saracens.
Murray continued; “We had already made contact with the Court for Arbitration of Sport, since they have recently dealt with high profile animals from Uruguay, to reach a final settlement when the fur really started to fly. Wolfgang angrily challenged Sarrie to a duel on the sacred turf of Twickenham during half-time of the Saracens vs Wasps match on Saturday.
“Club officials immediately dismissed the proposal, fearing a PR disaster. However Sarrie insisted he be allowed to accept the challenge of mascot-on-mascot combat.”
The club subsequently confirmed that Sarrie the Camel will duel with Wolfgang, the wolf, during the interval of the first match of the London Double Header. The last mascot standing will then be installed as the official club mascot for the 2014/15 season.
