'Collective effort' key to Sale win - Gill
Rhys Gill has praised Saracens scrummaging performance after their 40-19 win against Sale Sharks on Saturday afternoon.
Gill was a member of a Saracens scrum that wreaked havoc for the Sharks set-piece for the majority of the afternoon, as they endlessly forced Sale to concede penalties at the scrum.
Gill, who's performance with the ball in hand was equally impressive as his work at the set-piece, praised Saracens Forwards “collective” effort after the game.
“We work as an eight, and it was a collective effort,” said Gill. “ JJ (James Johnston)put in some great work on the other side of the scrum and to get that penalty try right on half-time was brilliant for us. It was a great effort for all the boys.
“We spoke in the week about making this place a fortress. When teams come to Allianz Park we want to make it as difficult as possible for them, so to get ourselves a bonus-point win in our first home game is brilliant.”
Gill also praised Jamie George who made his 100th appearance for the club in yesterday’s game.
“I think Jamie is about 18 isn’t he?” he said.
“To get to 100 games at a club like Saracens is huge achievement, and do to at such a young age is massive. I think he’ll get 300 caps eventually.”
