Kruis 'delighted' with England call-up
George Kruis is delighted to have been called up to Stuart Lancaster’s 33-man England squad for the 2014 QBE Internationals.
The 24-year-old lock has been called up to the senior England set-up for the first time after previously representing England Saxons in 2013 and 2014.
Speaking about his England call-up, Kruis said; “I’m delighted. I got the call from Graham Rowntree last night saying I was picked to be with England for the next five or six weeks, and it’s something that I’m pretty happy about.
“I have been pretty lucky with the opportunity, as other guys who were well in the mix have been injured, but I guess that can happy to anyone at any time. I’ve got the chance and I have to take it.”
The Dorking born second row will head into camp with fellow Saracens teammates Brad Barritt, Owen Farrell, Alex Goode and Billy Vunipola. Kruis though, is hoping to get know his new teammates as soon as possible when they link up as a squad at England’s training base a Pennyhill Park.
“I’m sure the boys will help me out when needed. I’ll be part of a new team, so I have to concentrate on making those new bonds and friendships when I’m there.”
