Bath test a 'massive challenge' - Hodgson
Charlie Hodgson believes Saracens top four clash against Bath has come at a crucial period of the Premiership season.
The all-time Premiership point’s scorer will partner Neil de Kock at half-back in a game that the 34-year old outside half says will be 'one of the bigger games of the season'.
“It’s pretty big,” said Hodgson. “It’s certainly up there with the bigger games you have during the season. If you look at the games that are played at this time of the year you can either get left behind or keep up with the pace at the top of table. We know that it will be a massive challenge, they are riding high at the moment and are full of confidence – it will be tough one for us.
“The nature of both squads is that they can put out very strong teams at any time of the season. It’s set up to be a brilliant contest, a good clash between two very good sides. Hopefully we can come out on the good side of it.”
The mercurial N10 will be lining up alongside Brad Barritt and Duncan Taylor on Sunday, with the Saracens centre duo both included after a spell on the sidelines.
Hodgson said: “Brad just shows what a quality plyer he is. Defensively nothing ever seems to get past him, and he sets the tone for us. Duncan’s work-rate around the field is second to none, and I don’t think many people get to see how much work he actually does. It’s great to have two international boys back in the midfield, up against two international boys in the Bath team. It’s certainly going to be a great contest.”
