Brown proud after Quins display

Saracens Kelly Brown produced a barnstorming performance in Saracens 31-17 win against Harlequins.

The Scotland captain crossed for a first half try, played a major role in Chris Ashton's second-half score and was a constant menace for the Harlequins defence.

Brown, 31, was proud of the teams performance despite a strong personal display; "I'm the same as all the boys, I just want to my bit for the team and I was very proud of the effort and the intensity shown not just by the matchday 23, but the coaches, the guys that didn't play, all the people behind the scenes. I just think all the club is pulling in the same direction and working unbelievably hard right now.

On the game he added: "I thought in the first half we put ourselves under a lot of pressure, that we were forcing things a little bit and we said at halftime, that if we go back to playing our way by working hard, bring energy and physicality then we can turn it round, and that was what we did".

Saracens Director of Rugby Mark McCall was effusive of his blindside flanker, praising Brown after the game; "Kelly is just a wonderful rugby player," said McCall.

"He looked unbelievably good today with ball in hand. Everyone sees his as this defensive player, on the ball today he was as good as anyone. I’m so chuffed for him because his season was a tough one with Scotland; he almost embodies what we want a Saracens player to be. We want people who can react to disappointments and Kelly Brown is a brilliant person to have here".
