Centurian Wigglesworth 'happy' with landmark
Richard Wigglesworth is set to bring up a century of appearances for Saracens this weekend, when the influential scrum-half takes to the field against Worcester Warriors at Allianz Park this Saturday, kick-off 15h00.
Wigglesworth joined the club in the summer of 2010 from Sale Sharks and as he reveals, reaching the 100 appearance landmark is something that he is pleased to have achieved.
“I’m pretty happy to get to 100 appearances to be honest” said the 30-year-old half-back. “I was a year or two in to my career here and it was certainly one of my aims to get my 100th cap. It wasn’t that long ago where I think it was only Kocky (Neil de Kock) after the so called “clear out” that was on 100 games at the club. The latest inductees seem to be coming thick and fast these days, and I think that shows just how far we’ve come a core group.
“The lads are already joking that the standard of these 100 club dinners and lunches will be slipping rapidly, as the latest guys to join it are me and Stretts (David Strettle), a pair of northerners. They’ll be a few more joining us if you look at the appearances, and Faz (Own Farrell), a Wiganer, is due next, so we better get used to it".
He added; "I’m unbelievably happy with how our form has improved. Everyone has stepped up a level and we have to keep that momentum going now".
