De Jager eager to get started
Nick De Jager will make his Premiership debut on Saturday, when Saracens face Newcastle Falcons at Allianz Park.
The South African loose forward has impressed during his involvement in Saracens Storm’s victorious A-League campaign, and during the club’s run to the LV=Cup semi-final.
A physical and rangy loose forward, De Jager will line up at blindside flanker alongside Jackson Wray and Jacques Burger in the Saracens back row.
Speaking about making his first Premiership appearance for the club, De Jager said: “I’m very excited. I’m feeling very fortunate to get the opportunity to show what I can do.
“I think I’ve found a settled environment within the group after a some injury issues last season and I’m feeling really comfortable with how the team play, and the systems we use. I’m certainly feeling a lot more confident.
“I feel at home. Everyone has been great since I arrived, and it’s just great to get out there on Saturday, albeit, for a long awaited Premiership debut!”
On Saturday’s game, De Jager said: “Newcastle are one of those teams who have really improved over the last two seasons. We have prepared very well in the week and all the boys are just raring to go. We are taking each game as it comes, so we have put last weekend’s disappointment to bed - this week has been hugely positive.”
The 25-year old added: “It’s going to be a really tough test for us, but we’re ready and willing to tackle the challenge of the Falcons this weekend.”
