Disappointed Ransom praises forward effort
Saracens full-back Ben Ransom revealed he was heartened by his side’s resilience during a disappointing 24-23 defeat away to Gloucester.
Ransom was a late call-up to the Saracens starting XV, after Owen Farrell withdrew from the game with a slight muscle strain, and the fleet-footed full-back praised the way Saracens responded during the second half with two well taken tries from the Vunipola brothers.
Speaking after Saracens' defeat, Ransom said: “We were 30 seconds away from as victory, so naturally we’re very disappointed. I thought the guys really stuck at in the second half, and we managed to get ourselves in front on the scoreboard with some great driving mauls.
“When Maro (Itoje) came on he did really well in those lineouts, and I thought the lads scrummaged very well. Gloucester managed to get within two points and unfortunately a few things went against us and it’s just one of those things."
Ransom added: “With Munster coming up our attention is switched onto a huge game next week. We won’t dwell on tonight, it’s very disappointing but with a massive clash next Saturday coming up, we’re just looking ahead now.”
