Saracens coach’s Paul Gustard and Kevin Sorrell will be running the North London Half Marathon on Sunday, to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.
The race starts from Allianz Park in Barnet, home of the Saracens Rugby Club and takes a route through the leafy streets of North London all the way to Wembley Stadium. Runners will then return to Allianz Park.
The fundraising effort from the former Saracens players has an added significance, as both Paul’s and Kevin’s Fathers have been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in the past.
Gustard: “Prostate Cancer has impact both mine and Kevin’s lives. Kev’s Dad was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer three years ago and has undergone treatment. Three months ago my own Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer and is now undergoing treatment.”
Sorrell: “This type of cancer is hereditary and affects one in eight males, so it’s most likely that Gussy and I will have it sometime in our lives. We’re running the North London Half Marathon to raise funds and create as much awareness as possible.
“I’m not really looking forward to chasing Gussy across north London, but it’s all for a great cause. If every Saracens fan, or anyone for that matter, could donate any sum or money, however big or small, it could make a huge difference.”
You can donate by visiting their just giving page or by texting IFXJ54 followed by the amount you wish to donate (£1, £5, £10 etc) to 70070.
