Du Plessis enjoying return to action
Petrus du Plessis played a key role in a convincing Saracens scrummaging performance, in Saturday’s 28-15 win against Sale Sharks.
The experience tighthead prop has started in Saracens’ last two European games against the Sharks, with the north Londoners registering two vital wins against Steve Diamond’s side.
Speaking about his recent involvement in the Saracens side, Du Plessis said; “We’re a club who do rotate, and we’ve had a few injuries at tighthead so it’s my time to start a few games. Hopefully I can take these opportunities and just give it my all, and I’ve felt that I’ve done that so far.
“I’m really happy to get a few starts in big European games, and I feel like I’m settling back into the starting line up well. My job is to help provide a good platform, and I’m happy with the way things have been going”.
Speaking about Saturday’s performance, the former Nottingham man added; “I think we’ve worked extremely hard in the last two weeks on our scrum. We have changed something subtle and it’s working for us.
“Our platform is good, and if you don’t get that platform established you’re making it hard for yourselves and we’ve improved really well over the last fortnight. The boys have been really clued in at the set-piece and that gives us front-front ball, and that’s how you win games”.
