Du Plessis named in World XV squad to face South Africa

Saracens prop Petrus du Plessis has been named in the World XV squad to face South Africa next month.

The double Premiership winner who enjoyed a stellar 2014/15 season for the Allianz Park club will join the likes of Toulon’s Steffon and Delon Armitage and Bakkies Botha in the Cape Town clash.

Du Plessis will join the 13 names already announced, with Carl Hayman, Mike Harris, Tom Taylor, Lachie Turner, David Roumieu, Gurthro Steenkamp, Jordan Taufua, Flip Van der Merwe and Luke Whitelock all set to run out at Newlands on July 11.

It means that the coaching team of Robbie Deans and Bernard Laporte have a squad crammed full of experience, having amassed a combined 460 Test caps between them.
