Ellery enjoying winging it for the Storm

Mike Ellery bagged a brace of tries in an impressive showing on the right wing, as Saracens Storm beat Wasps A 43-17 at Allianz Park.

The Penrith born wing crossed twice during the first half, and impressed throughout the game with a series of dangerous runs and line breaks throughout the game.

Speaking after the Storm’s win, he said; “It was good to be back out there. I haven’t played for a while so to get the run out and blow the cobwebs out the lungs was great for me. I though our forwards did really well tonight, as usual, and overall it was good win for us. We’re very happy".

Ellers try

“We’re really enjoying playing in these game, and in the LV=Cup games. The boys have missed it over the last few weeks, so it was good to be back out there once again. There was a lot of excitement from the lads building up to tonight’s game and it think that showed in tonight’s performance. There was a lot of energy out there tonight and it was a good win for us."

A converted back rower, Ellery is excelling in his new position of winger at his new club since leaving England 7s to join the north Londoners earlier this summer.

“I’m really enjoying playing and I’ve been learning a lot from Stretts and Ashy since I’ve been here,” said Ellery. “I’m becoming more comfortable and feeling like I’m getting used to the position a bit better. I’ll get better with more games, and it was nice to cross for a couple of tries tonight”.
