Farrell – Match winning try ‘deserved’

Owen Farrell came off the bench at Twickenham to star in Saracens' dramatic comeback win against Wasps on Saturday afternoon.

The fly-half provided an assist for David Strettle’s second try of the game in the 63rd minute and played a role in Saracens midfield move in the build-up to Strettle’s match winner at the death, as Saracens beat Wasps 34-28.

“I was chuffed seeing Stretts go over at the end. We had a lot of ball in that last ten minutes so it was probably deserved,” said Farrell.

He added; “I think it shows a lot about the team that we stuck at to the end and pulled off a result like we did. I think we’ve got a few things that we need to work on, but it’s the first game of the season so we know that there will be aspects of our game that will need improving. We need to make sure that we’re polished up for next week and that we’re ready to go out there and work hard again.”
