Fundraising Update

Funding from St James Place Foundation

Our flagship disABILITY Sport programme is moving from strength to strength and we are delighted to be able to share with you that St James Place Foundation has agreed to fund this programme for the next 3 years. With a generous total donation of £87,000 this will secure the programme and ensure that we can keep offering high quality sport to those on the moderate to severe end of the autistic spectrum.

DisABILITY Sport engages a wide group of disabled people but what makes the project outstanding is that it is the only sports project that actively reaches out to participants with moderate to severe autism. Many existing sports clubs offer activity for disabled participants, but none will offer sporting opportunities for people with autism sometimes with challenging behaviours. With the support of St James Place Foundation and our large team of skilled staff and volunteers this funding will enable us to provide a rewarding and challenging sporting environment for members. DisABILITY Sport enables our participants to be challenged and supported through a structured process with a strong focus on social development along with health benefits.

Owain Davies – Senior Sports Development Manager

‘We are beyond thrilled at the funding that St James Place Foundation have given to our disABILITY Sport programme. This will enable it to move from strength to strength and means we can focus on the delivery of this fantastic programme secure in the knowledge that it is funded for the next 3 years. The support from St James Place Foundation is also confirmation that this programme of work is needed by our community and valued for the difference it is making’.

Fundraising Challenge

Coast to Coast Challenge

It is not too late to sign up to our Coast to Coast Challenge. Cycling is quickly becoming one of the UK’s most popular sporting pastimes, if you are an avid cyclist or someone looking to pick up a new hobby then what could be a better way, than to join us in the Saracens Sport Foundation’s latest physical challenge; the Coast to Coast cycle!

This September (16th to 18th), riders will be setting out from the Cumbria Coast, where you will have the chance to take in all the dramatic scenery that the North of England has to offer, before pedalling over 140 miles to the North sea over the course of 3 days. You’ll need all your pedal power to tackle big ascents and descents in the Eden Valley and Northumberland National Park.

The aches and pains will be long forgotten, however, while the memory of this remarkable journey past former mining towns and Roman forts will endure for years to come.

If you think this challenge is for you then there is no better time to get signed up and out training for what will be a truly once in a lifetime experience.  There are various sponsorship packages available to suit your needs with accomodation and meals are included.
