The Saracens HITZ Programme aims to improve life opportunities for young people from challenging backgrounds and environments.
The programme focuses on the personal development of young people as both ‘HITZ On Track’ and the ‘HITZ Learning Academy’ branches of the programme look to harness the core values of Saracens – Honesty, Humility, Discipline and Work Rate.
HITZ On Track, an in school provision, utilises a blend of issue based sessions and practical rugby sessions to develop and enhance resilience, confidence and motivation, complementing the Saracens core values.
The HITZ Learning Academy a personal, social and educational programme runs every week in Haringey from 09.30am – 3.30pm. Tuesday – Friday.
We welcome young people who have disengaged from mainstream education referred to us from places such as the council, Youth Offending Teams, pupil referral units or schools. A typical day may involve classroom sessions in the morning working towards functional skills qualifications in literacy and numeracy, plus relevant industry qualifications; afternoon sessions typically involve sports sessions – focussing on transferring sporting skills such as leadership and communication into life off the pitch.
