Global Network teams in action
Three of the Saracens Global Network were in action last weekend, with sides in Sao Paulo, Kuala Lumpar and Narobi all in action in Saracens colours.
In Brazil, the Sao Paulo Saracens beat opponents Pasteur RFC 38 – 28 in the second round of the Paulista A 2014 Championship. In Malaysia, KL Saracens 1st XV thrashed opponents SAJOHA 45 – 0, after KL Saracens 2nd XV beat ANSARA 26 – 19. Over in Kenya the Nairobi Saracens bowed out in extra time to 24 – 31 KCB Lions semi-final of the Kenya Enterprise Cup.
In the high scoring contest Nairobi Saracens centre Lameck Dunde was first on the score sheet at the Impala club grounds, with other try scorers on the day was goal-kicking winger Quinto Odhiambo, back-rower Anthony Oyugi and a last gasp effort from fly-half Nato Simiyu to tie the scores at 24-24. In extra time the visitors would go onto win a pulsating contest.
Despite the obvious disappointment Impala Saracens captain Duncan Ekasi revealed after the match that he was proud of the effort shown from his side;
“It was a great show from the boys. This is a great improvement from where we were end of last year and early this season” said the No8.
“The major positive for us was the ‘never say die’ attitude that took us to extra time. Our boys put their bodies on the line” added the Impala Saracens captain.
With the Impala Saracens out of the cup they are out of action this weekend but there are games for both Sao Paulo Saracens and KL Saracens over the weekend.
