Hamilton content with Allianz Park bow

Jim Hamilton made his first appearance in a Saracens shirt against London Scottish on Friday evening, playing 40 minutes in Saracens’ 40-5 win against the Championship outfit, writes Matthew Hennessey.

Although the contest was particularly one sided during Hamilton’s first half appearance, the Scotland international revealed he was pleased to have made his Allianz Park debut.

“It was good to get my first run out at Allianz Park and get to grips with a new surface as well,” said Hamilton, “there’s only so much preseason you can do and you just want to get out there on the pitch – I enjoyed it”.

“The first half was a little bit stop-start, I’d have liked to get a little bit running in the legs and the lungs”.

He added; “It would have been nice to defended a bit more, I’m not sure I made that many tackles in the first half which is a bit unusual, so in that sense I’d like to get involved in the next couple of games, and be tested a bit more defensively”.

Attention for Saracens now moves on to Thursday’s clash against the Ospreys at the HAC, and Hamilton is hoping to play his part in what will be new surroundings for the lock.

“This London lifestyle is all new to me, so it would be great to get a run out against the Ospreys in the heart of the City. It’s great that the Club look to expand the game and play in these different kind of venues - I’m looking forward to it”.
