Happy 90th Birthday Freda!
This Wednesday, 22nd October, saw our eldest Love to Dance participant turn 90 years old! Our Monday morning dance class celebrated in style, raising money together to treat Freda to flowers and a birthday cake. She was quite overwhelmed by all the attention thanking everyone and saying how “dance takes us back to our lost youth and keeps our energy high”.
Freda Marcus has danced all her life, with social Latin American classes with her husband leading to them winning dance competitions on many holiday cruises. She also attended keep-fit classes run by her sister for 20 years and still plays bowls in the summer. After losing her husband 18years ago, she started attending line dance and sequence dance classes, as well as going on dance based holidays with her sister Millie and her husband Phil.
When the three of them found out about our ‘Love to Dance’ classes it was just what they were looking for. Having attended since the class launched in January 2013, they have seen the class grow to the fantastic, both exercise and social group it is now. Freda loves how the classes have given her the opportunity to learn new dance styles.
Freda said “It is just wonderful how dancing has brought such lovely people together. Everyone is so friendly”.
