Hargreaves 'I almost pulled a lung!'
On his first return to action since being sidelined for three months with a wrist injury, Alistair Hargreaves completed 80 minutes in his return to first team action, as Saracens beat Newcastle 18-23 t0 move nine points clear at the summit of the Aviva Premiership.
"It was a tough game and it took a while for me to get going. The first twenty minutes were tough, I almost pulled a lung!" said the Springbok international lock.
"Once we got into the game I though the boys put in a good stint. I’m just really glad to be part of it again" he added.
"You miss being part of such a special team, so it’s nice to be back in thick of it and hopefully I can contribute in the business part of the season now".
On the game, Hargreaves praised Saracens "efficiency", after they came away with their 18th win of the Premiership season.
“Newcastle are a good side, a competent side. They cause you problems and they can damage you on their day" he said.
"It’s a hard place to come and get a result and a hard place to come and play rugby. In the second half we let ourselves down in terms of our discipline and we’ve got to be careful that doesn’t creep into our game towards the end of the season. Technically we got a few things wrong, gave away a few penalties, but overall the team really put in a good effort.
"We were efficient, we came here to get points and I think everyone’s pretty proud with the shift that they put in today" he added.
