Heineken Cup debut 'surreal' says Barrington

Saracens loosehead prop Richard Barrington says he almost had to pinch himself after playing his first ever Heineken Cup game of his career against Zebre Rugby at the weekend.

The former Jersey player played 68 minutes in Saturday's Heineken Cup Pool 3 clash, before being replaced by Jared Saunders.

"It's surreal" said the 24-year-old.

"This time last year I was on the bench for Jersey against teams like Mosley so to be starting in the Heineken Cup and playing the majority of game is great. I'm having to pinch myself really.

"I've been lucky to get a run of games under my belt due to Mako's (Vunipola) and Rhys' (Gill) misfortune and I'm really enjoying my rugby. It's onto next weekend now, and as squad we love playing at Allianz Park.

Barrington added; "It's a big game for us (Zebre at home). After the Toulouse result we need to pick up as many points as we can, and we know that after the weekend we are playing against a well drilled side - it's a big week ahead".
