Hodgson praises forward unit after virtuoso display
Charlie Hodgson produced a stunning Man of the Match display in Saracens 30-23 ERCC win against Clermont Auvergne.
The experienced fly-half bossed proceedings throughout his 75-minute spell on pitch, with an assured display of tactical kicking and pin-point distribution.
Speaking after the game about his own performance Hodgson said; “I am really pleased, but ultimately though it comes from the platform that is set up front, and those lads make my job a hell of a lot easier. At the same time it comes down to that chats we have about the game plan with the coaches, with Faz (Owen Farrell), Wiggy (Richard Wigglesworth), Neil (De Kock) , the generals in the team – it certainly helps me make those decisions on the field.
On the result he added; “I think it’s more a feeling of relief. I think the happiness will settle in pretty soon. To get the bonus-point win against a side like Clermont, I don’t think you can ask much more than that. We still know there’s a long way to go, but to get off to that kind of start is great.”
