Inspiring Peter completes London 10k
In a truly inspirational tale of overcoming the odds, Sarrie’s Skills Club attendee Peter Biddle completed the London 10k on Sunday, raising an incredible £3,000+ for the Saracens Sport Foundation in the process.
Peter is severely autistic, non-verbal and is hugely noise sensitive so being in crowded places can trigger self-harming behaviours, yet the 20-year old crossed the finish line alongside 11 other runners, made up of Saracens staff, Peter’s family and members of Saracens Supporters Association and Pioneers in Sunday’s London 10k.
Peter attends Allianz Park every Monday and Wednesday, and began training for the London 10k alongside Saracens Sport Foundation Development Manager Owain Davies 14 months ago. He is also a keen Rugby fan, and has attended Saracens’ matches at Allianz Park on a regular basis.
After completing the race alongside Peter, Davies hailed Biddle’s incredible achievement.
Davies said: “We had a real great day Peter and the team were truly fantastic. A real achievement not only in the great sum of money raised and the awareness level of severe autism heightened, but also the incredible achievement of what Peter has done in doing this challenge.
“He has inspired so many people and we hope his truly remarkable achievement unlocks other opportunities for people with severe autism engage in sport and the wider community.
“The journey Peter has been on has been was long, thought-out and specific to support Peter’s complex needs. Peter coped very well on the day, using his ear defenders to help, but training for 14 months ahead played a key and vital role in his achievement.”
25 Saracens staff and supporters turned up to roar Peter and the team over the finish line. On the extra support on the day Davies added: “The support was amazing and truly inspired all runners on. The Sarries supporters shouting us on were incredible. A massive thank you has to go to the everyone who has donated on our Just Giving page we have smashed our target and we still have more money to come in. this will go a long way to support Peter and his gang who access our incredible club each and every Monday.”
A huge well done to Peter and the other runners from everyone here at Saracens. A truly inspiring story.

The Sarrie’s Skills Club is an out of school sports club for young people with autism. This is the first programme designed specifically for those who are severely autistic to be run by any professional sports team in the UK. The project is entirely unique due to the severity of autism that is caters for – offering physical activity in a stimulating environment for young people who have little or no verbal communication skills and can require two on one support to ensure their safety and enjoyment.
