Another successful season has drawn to a close and it won’t be long before it all starts again, but in the interim we look back on a highly successful 2014/15 campaign in this edition.
The Aviva Premiership season started with a 34-28 home win over Wasps in front of 66,000 at Twickenham, and it ended at the home of rugby in front of 80,000 with victory over Bath in the final.
Flyhalf Owen Farrell helped himself to 18 points in the showpiece as Sarries became the first club outside the top two on the standings to win the Premiership title.
A second Premiership crown was the culmination of months of hard work from everyone associated with the club. We had to battle hard to make the play-offs after losing some games mid-season, but made it count when it mattered.
Veteran flyhalf Charlie Hodgson gave us his insights immediately after the victory in this month’s video feature, which also features a Saracens version of the Kolo/Yaya Toure song!
In our coverage of the final we also list 13 of the most memorable moments of the day while there is also a complete breakdown of the season’s stats inside.
Wing David Strettle, who has given great service to the club and scored a record 35 tries, is on his way to France to join Clermont next season and we wish him well. We tip our caps to David in an exclusive feature.
England’s under-20s recently beat the Junior Springboks on the way to the final of the Junior World Championships in Italy. Three Saracens players - Tompkins, George Perkins and Aaron Morris – excelled at the tournament following the likes of Maro Itoje and Nathan Earle in 2014. The club’s youth system is not only helping ensure excellence at Saracens but also at national level.
The club is still basking in the glory of our success, but thoughts have turned to next season and the planning is already underway.
Enjoy reminiscing and we look forward to more excitement in the 2015/16 season.
