Let’s get ‘REA’dy to rumble!
The Rugby Education Academy (REA) is a 3-way partnership between London Skolars Rugby League, Barnet and Southgate College, and ourselves at Saracens.
The first half of the season has seen the Barnet & Southgate College Bears team make outstanding progress. This has been particularly evident in the focus on the brand of rugby they are trying to play. The team have played one of the most attacking brands of rugby in the league, this dedication has enabled the team to score a minimum of 2 tries in each game.
The players also have an opportunity to compete in a National Rugby League set up through the RFL. The group travelled up to Moreton College in Wolverhampton showing unbelievable grit to grind out a victory in front of a big crowd, as well as making history in Rugby Union at the College by securing a spot to represent London in the National 7’s later on this year in Bath!
The REA programme allows students to continue their further education whilst offering time, space, and access to personal rugby development. Being involved in the REA programme gives players the opportunity to compete in the Daily Mail Cup, the British Colleges Cup, the South East Colleges League and the BCS 7’s.
Through this partnership, REA allows rugby development through attention to detail on both an individual and team basis. Through being involved in this programme, student athletes benefit from:
Individual weights programmes, physiotherapy, rehab & recovery, and video analysis.
6 hours per week working with both Saracens and London Skolars coaches.
Full schedule of lessons, regular training and competition programmes.
Regular complimentary use of college gym facilities.
Fixtures held at Allianz Park.
