“We just need to start as strongly as we have done in previous seasons” – Hannah Botterman

Saracens Women will kick-off the 2019/20 Tyrrells Premier 15s season at Shaftesbury Park against Bristol Bears Women.

The defending champions welcome a number of new faces into the matchday squad for the trip to the West Country.

Scotland international Lisa Martin starts at fly half while former Richmond flyer Rachel Laqeretabua joins captain Lotte Clapp and fullback Sarah McKenna in the back three.

Hannah Casey is partnered in the centre by Chantelle Miell while Eloise Hayward starts at scrum-half.

In the pack, Mackenzie Carson will have the opportunity to take on her former teammates with the Canadian international forming an all-international front row alongside Hannah Botterman and Jeani Layola.

Sonia Green, who is entering her 18th season at the club, and Rosie Galligan continue their second row partnership.

Vicky Fleetwood and Marlie Packer make their first appearances in Sarries colours since March and January respectively and they are joined by Scotland forward Jodie Rettie in the backrow.

New faces Rocky Clark, Jade Wong and Aine Staunton come onto the bench. Jade Knight, May Campbell, Chrissy Siczowa and Kat Evans form the rest of the replacements.

The Saracens Women Development team will also be looking to make a strong start to their season in the west country.

Bronwen Jackson-Turner leads the team which includes new faces in Kate Skelton and Aisha Abu-Marzouq in starting pack.

Kay Searcy and Sarah Bebbington bring their experience to the forward effort while there is a youthful look to the backline with the likes of Anna Goddard at fly-half, Cara Wardle at centre and Ellie Lennon at fullback.

Last season’s top try scorer, Georgie Lingham starts on the wing while second row Molly Morrissey could make her Saracens debut off the bench.
