Saracens Women will be looking to get the new decade off to a winning start as they welcome fellow play-off contenders Loughborough Lightning to Allianz Park on Saturday 11 January (KO13H30).

With their Tyrrells Premier 15s Round 10 fixture away to Richmond Women postponed due to the condition of the pitch, this will the home team’s first game since their comeback win over Harlequins Women almost a month ago.

Head Coach Alex Austerberry has opted for the same backline that started that win in south-west London as Lisa Martin and Hannah Casey link up in midfield for the third time this season.

There are three changes in the pack as Alex Ellis and May Campbell come into the front row at prop and hooker respectively while Mackenzie Carson joins Marlie Packer and Poppy Cleall in the loose forward trio.

Second-row Sonia Green, having made her Sarries debut in 2002, will play for the club in her third decade when she runs out on Saturday.

The versatile duo of Chantelle Miell and Nina Vistisen are named on the bench, as are experienced trio of Rocky Clark, Kat Evans and Jeani Layola

Loughborough Lightning currently sit third in the table behind Saracens Women on 37 points. After a mixed start to the season the visitors have gone on a four-match winning run, including a 55 – 7 win over Bristol Bears Women in the final match of 2019.

This will be the first time the two teams will have played each other at Allianz Park since November 2018. On that occasion the home side ran out 29 – 0 winners (highlight below), though the two subsequent matches were settled by just three and four points respectively.

When these two sides met earlier this season, Saracens came back from 17 – 0 down at half-time to run out 28 – 24 winners thanks to a late Libby Lockwood try.
