THE FIRST HOME PREMIERSHIP RUGBY CUP GAME OF THE SEASON

  • The first home fixture for Saracens Men and the first outing of the new home kit!

Saracens have won 16 home matches against Sale since their last defeat in 2005.

Fans can get their first taste of men’s rugby at Allianz Park this season when Saracens welcome Sale Sharks to north London in the Premiership Rugby Cup.

A competition renowned for showcasing exciting talent, Sarries, under Senior Academy Coach Adam Powell’s guidance, reached the final in 2018/19 with 23 Academy products playing their part in the campaign.

Three of that tally in Tom Whiteley, Matt Gallagher and Joel Kpoku were nominated for the Premiership Rugby Cup Breakthrough Player Award for their contributions but there were a number who held there hand up and really impressed.

The Men in Black won both of their Premiership Rugby Cup matches last term, scoring nine tries and accumulating 63 points.

Saracens have made seven changes to the starting XV for the visit of Sale Sharks in the Premiership Rugby Cup.

Four players are in line to make their home debut with Josh Ibuanokpe continuing his role at tighthead.

Loan recruits Damian Willemse and Callum Hunter-Hill will get their first taste of Allianz Park from fly-half and lock respectively while Tongan Viliami Hakalo, who made his maiden Sarries outing on the road in the competition last season, is at inside centre.

The latter partners Alex Lozowski in the midfield with Matt Gallagher slotting in on the wing in the only other backline change from the Men in Black’s win at Wasps last time out.

Joe Gray and Calum Clark freshen up the pack for their first involvement if the campaign, and Andy Christie switches to Number 8.

Winger Alex Lewington is also included in the match day 23 amongst the replacements.
