Match winner Vunipola seeks improvement
Billy Vunipola was the match winner for Saracens on Saturday after the powerful No.8 crossed for a 79th minute try in their 32-36 win away to London Irish at the Madejski Stadium.
Vunipola was delighted to have scored the all-important match winner but admitted Saracens have plenty to work on in preparation for Sale Sharks after their performance in Reading.
“You have to give credit where it’s due, Irish played really well against us,” said Vunipola.
“They were dangerous with the ball, and they frustrated us a lot when they didn’t have possession. We have things to work on, we’ll sit down as a group with the coaches and see where we can improve which will make us a better team over all."
On scoring the match winning try he added; “It was a great call from Brad to kick for touch rather than settle for the draw by pointing to the posts. All the boys were 100% behind him. I don’t think it wasn’t that much of a gamble as we have been working really hard on our mauls. There was some great work from Hayden Smith in the lineout and I was lucky to be the one to sneak in.”
