McCall full of praise for England duo
Mark McCall praised the virtuoso performances of Saracens pair Alex Goode and Brad Barritt, in the wake of his sides 34-24 win against Bath at Allianz Park.
Goode was particularly impressive. The Saracens full-back was a threat with ball in hand, rock solid in defence and metronomic from the kicking tee, and he was praised by the Saracens director of rugby in his post-match press conference.
Speaking after the game, McCall said: “I thought Alex was phenomenal today, not just in attack, but he must have made three or four last ditch tackles on their wingers. He was brilliant today. Charlie took a knock to his hamstring, so to come on and place kick as well as he did was great.
“Brad Barritt was another who was phenomenal today. He handled the ball brilliantly at times. It tells you a lot about Brad Barritt that he can comeback midweek and perform at that level.”
On the overall performance, McCall added: “Today was about putting in a good performance, and getting the four points. We had the opportunity to kick on and get more in the game, but in the first sixty minutes of the game I thought we were the dominant team.
“I thought we attacked very well. We scored three fantastic tries and really performed.”
