McCall hails wide men after WP win
Mark McCall praised wingers Chris Ashton and David Strettle as the prolific wing-pair both crossed for a pair of tries as Saracens beat DHL Western Province 46-22 at Allianz Park.
Speaking after Saracens lifted the Sanlam Challenge Shield McCall said of his wings; “I think their form is exceptional and they’ve carried that on from last season. Week-in-week-out they deliver and they perform. Not only do they play well they score tries.
"Ashy’s second try came from him chasing a restart 50 metres and forcing a turnover from them, then four phases later he’s getting the ball from Charlie Hodgson and going over to score, and David’s first try was a great finish. The pair of them played really well today and the two of them are in great form."
On his sides overall display McCall added; “It was a good performance against a very good Western Province team. They came out of the blocks pretty quickly and in the first ten minutes we were under the pump in our own 22. We defended well in that period of time and we scored some really good tries today and played some really good rugby.”
