McCall laments first half showing
Mark McCall lamented his sides ‘disappointing’ first half performance, after Saracens were beaten by Sale Sharks 14-10 in Salford.
In a frustrating day at the office for Saracens, a late try from Richard Barrington secured a losing bonus point in an otherwise forgettable day for the north Londoner's. Speaking after the game, the Saracens director of rugby credited opponents Sale for an impressive performance: “Overall, we are very disappointed. We must give Sale credit, they were excellent today.
“They out-muscled us, out-manoeuvred us and got the better of us, at lineout time in particular. They were clinical when they had their chances. I think in that first half we were a little out-fought and out-muscled which is frustrating for us, and the two yellow cards were significant as well.”
“We played against a really good Sale team today. We weren’t good enough in the first half but we improved in the second half and had a lot more ball.”
He added: “They defended brilliantly, we put them under a lot of pressure and I’m glad we came away with something from the match.”
