A lot to take to the drawing board - Goode
Alex Goode says Saracens have a lot to work on going into Saturday’s game at Northampton Saints.
The Men in Black picked up another five points on the weekend against Bristol Bears but were made to work hard for it by the plucky West Country outfit.
Frustrated and behind at half-time, Sarries rallied at the break to hit Pat Lam’s side for 31 points and Goode admits while the squad are happy with the victory, they weren’t at their free-flowing best.
“It was a bit scrappy in the first half,” he said.
“We weren’t at the races; we know that and we were made to pay by a quality side.
“In the second half we came out with more intent and went for them a bit more, but it was a bit patchy; we know that and there’s definitely areas for us to work on.
“We knew they’re a top side, and we didn’t underestimate them, but we weren’t at our best.”
Goode continued: “We’d like to start putting some 80-minute performances together but we’re happy with the win.
“Obviously to get a bonus point in the first home game is great, however there’s certainly a lot for us to take to the drawing board and improve and that’s what it’s all about, getting better each week.”
Saracens return to Allianz Park on Sunday 23rd September against Gloucester. Tickets can be purchased from www.saracens.com/tickets.
