Academy Update: Academy Stars shine for England U18s
Saracens Academy lock Nick Isiekwe put in a Man of the Match performance in England U18s nail-biting win over Wales this weekend.
The promising second row forward was joined by club-mates Jack Nay (openside flanker) and the influential Ben Earl (No8) in the dramatic win, as a last gasp drop goal from England fly-half James Grayson snatched victory from the jaws of defeat for the Red Rose youngsters.
Isiekwe made his England U18s debut as a 16-year old in last season’s U18s Six Nations championship and has once again impressed whilst on international duty. He is currently studying at Haileybury on a rugby scholarship and alongside Nay and Earl has featured for Saracens in the Premiership A-League this season.
Openiside Jack Nay was superb throughout, and tackled his heart out during the contest. Nay's fellow Sevenoaks's teammate and back-row partner Ben Earl carried superbly from No8 with all three of the Sarries producing fine performances.
Elsewhere this weekend, Saracens England U20s duo of full-back Max Malins and wing George Perkins were in action for England U20s. A poor first half performance meant Jon Callard’s England Under-20s fell short against Wales 42-16 in the fourth round of the Six Nations at Ashton Gate, Bristol.
