Academy watch: Six involved for loan clubs

Six Saracens academy players featured in the National League on the weekend.

Jon Kpoku scored for Ampthill in their win at Cinderford. The lock produced several barnstorming support lines and crossed under the posts in the second half. Hooker Tadgh McElroy came off the bench to score the bonus-point try in the last play of the game to secure a 26-20 victory. Centre Oli Morris also played in the match in a backline that also included academy coach Kevin Barrett.

Ampthill remain second in National One with a game in hand and play Bishop’s Stortford at home next.

Old Albanian travelled down to Somerset to face Taunton Titans but were narrowly beaten 10-8. Tobias Munday and Charlie Watson started at flanker and centre respectively for OAs who had led 8-7 at the break. OAs host Worthing in their next fixture.

Cameron Boon started for Loughborough Students in a thriller against Darlington Mowden Park. The Leicestershire outfit lost 47-30 and play Rosslyn Park next.
