Alex Goode: "We've Shown A Lot Of Fight And Togetherness"
Alex Goode has backed Saracens to improve once again as they prepare to host Worcester Warriors at Allianz Park on Sunday.
Sarries won 29-17 at Leicester on Christmas Eve, a result that sees them rise to second place in the Aviva Premiership and Goode says that they are in a good place after the festive period:
“We came back into training on the 27th, we’re in a good place after two training days and are aware of the challenge ahead against a Worcester team playing very well.
“We’ve just tried to improve from Clermont onwards really, we improved against Leicester and want to try and improve again this week but not drastic changes have taken place; we just focus on what we do well normally and go back to doing the basics well.
“We’ve been very happy with the last two weeks but also know that there’s improvement to be made, it hasn’t been fixed overnight and nor have we hit our straps.
“We’ve done some good things, shown a lot of fight and togetherness and are improving week-by-week; we know the team that we put out every week is good enough and have some good players coming back.”
The full-back is the league leader for metres gained, with 1034, but says that it is important not to look at the league table when preparing for a game such as this.
He said: “I don’t think you can ever really look at the table in this league, bottom teams trouble top sides all of the time, you can’t take your eye off the ball at all and we’re not looking past this game.
“Worcester are a good team in a rich vein of form at the moment and playing well, they dispatched London Irish and have had some other good results in recent weeks so they’re a good team and we’re under no illusions as to the challenge we face.”
