Alex Lozowski Praises Sarries Relationships
Saracens’ Alex Lozowski has emphasised the importance of relationships as the two-time European Champions prepare to face Clermont-Auvergne in France on Sunday.
The Men in Black currently occupy second spot in Pool 2 and have the chance to reclaim top spot on Sunday, but face a big challenge up against the French champions at Stade Marcel-Michelin.
England international Lozowski says that the team’s closeness and its spirit will be key heading into the second game of a double-bill against Clermont.
The 24-year-old explained: “We know it’s going to be an unbelievable challenge next weekend, but I know for a fact that everybody in the dressing room really cares and we’ll be doing our very best to put it right.
“We’re very close and need to pull on that now and use it to our advantage, we need to pull together and show each other that we really do care and hopefully that will transfer into the game at the weekend.”
Sarries were beaten by Clermont on Monday evening and Lozowski says that he and his teammates must not feel sorry for themselves.
He said: “It’s obviously disappointing, everyone in the changing room afterwards was devastated with the way we played and the result, we can’t feel sorry for ourselves now.
“We’ve got a huge challenge in Clermont now, the only way we’re going to get out of this position is by working hard but I know everyone at the club is going to be working as hard as they can to make things right, everyone in the dressing room is hurting.
“There are boys with a lot of experience who have played a lot of rugby and have been through all of the ups and downs of the sport and that’s where we are; we care about each other and we care about this group of players.
He added: “On Monday we weren’t good enough but this week we’re back in training and will look at where we can improve.”
