Ashton raring to go
Chris Ashton is excited to be back in action for Saracens on Friday night as he makes his long awaited return to action after serving a ten-week suspension.
Back in the Saracens starting XV for the first time since facing Ulster in January, Ashton who celebrated his 29th birthday earlier this week, will be running out in his customary number 14 jersey on Friday evening at The Rec.
Speaking ahead of the game, Ashton said: “I’m obviously very happy to be back involved. It’s been a long ten weeks to sit and watch rugby so I can’t wait to get out there on Friday night. When you know you’re playing at the weekend you have a different kind of feel to training, and that’s a feeling I’ve missed in these last ten weeks. The mental side of it something I’ve put to one side and as I just wanted to concentrate on training and helping the lads prepare.”
Ashton will line-up for Saracens to face a Bath side, who after a troubled start to the season, are beginning to find form. On Friday’s game, Ashton added: “Bath are pretty much the same side that made their way to the Aviva Premiership final last season, so we’re aware that Friday will be a tough game against quality opponents. They’ve won a few games recently and looking to move up the table. It’s a challenge for us, but it’s another game that we want to win if we want be where we want to be as a team.”
