Austerberry: "We must capture the momentum of the game"
Saracens Women go into tomorrow's Tyrrells Premier 15s Semi-Final against Wasps FC Ladies having finished top of the league at the end of the regular season.
The reigning champions will be welcoming Wasps FC Ladies to Allianz Park for the second time this season and Head Coach Alex Austerberry knows that playing at home could prove key on Saturday.
"A semi-final in front of our great home support is the reward for a very good regular season. We have home advantage and at the business end of the season, small margins make a huge difference.
"Knockout rugby brings its own unique challenges and we know that the result is all important. That said, performance has a good habit of looking after the scoreline and if we perform well and execute clinically we will put ourselves in a good place."
Unsurprisingly there has been an increased intensity in training this week but there is an awareness that taking that from practice to game day is all important.
"The energy in the group is very high as you would expect and the players are really focussed on the task which is to perform this weekend. Now we must capture the momentum of the game, maximise those periods when we are on top and effectively manage the periods when we are not in the ascendancy.
"We have been involved in some very pressurised situations this season and we have found ways to win from very different and difficult positions. We know we have the character, the quality and the desire to work hard for each other.
"Now, we need to demonstrate that this Saturday against a very tough opponent. It is a challenge we relish and one that we ultimately play rugby for."
There is still time to get your tickets to tomorrow's big game at Allianz Park. Kick-off is from 15H00 and the gates open from 13H00. if you are a Season Ticket Holder, this match is included within your offer for the season. There will be tickets available on the gate but they will be CASH ONLY.
