Barritt backing 'resilient' Saracens to bounce back
Saracens skipper Brad Barritt has backed his side to bounce back after two consecutive defeats citing their ‘resilience’ ahead of Saturday’s Aviva Premiership clash against Sale Sharks.
The Sharks arrive at Allianz on the back of confidence boosting win over Wasps whilst in contrast reigning champions Saracens head into the round 16 on the back of two disappointing defeats.
“The hallmark of this team is resilience,” said Barritt. “I think we know that we’re not that far off a good performance, but you have to take these things in your stride and learn from them and that’s been what we’ve been doing over the last couple of days.
“In a season, you get ups and downs, ebbs and flows of results, and it’s the team that can stay resilient, that can fight back when it gets tough, who will have a better chance of success. That’s been the framework of Saracens in recent seasons, hopefully we can draw on those experiences for Sale this Saturday.”
With fewer than 500 tickets left on-sale Allianz Park is set to be packed to the rafters as Sale Sharks arrive to NW4 for a second time this season, after Sarries run riot in 50-3 win in the Champions Cup clash earlier this season.
Barritt said: “It can be a bit strange to play Sale Sharks so often (in the league and Europe) two out the last three seasons and during that time we’ve become two teams who know each other really well. We know that they’re a really good team, and on their day, they can beat anyone as they showed last week against Wasps. It’ll be a tough fixture but one that we’re really energetic and excited about.”
