Barritt proud of Saracens’ relentless appetite
Brad Barritt says he is proud of the way the Saracens squad fought to turn their season into a triumphant one.
The Men in Black defeated Exeter Chiefs 27-10 at Twickenham to win their third Aviva Premiership title in four years.
Much was said about Sarries’ mid-season run of losses and captain Barritt, who has committed his future to the club until 2020, has praised his team-mates for taking ownership and taking the team to ‘new heights’.
“The performance speaks volumes of what the organisation is about,” he said.
“If we look back to the period over December and January, it probably ranks as one of the proudest turnarounds.
“The way the group collectively came together and dealt with the setback of falling out of Europe, our performances have improved week-in, week-out. We’ve shown a relentless appetite to improve as a team and individuals which has been remarkable.
“For me as a captain it’s been very easy as I’ve had six or seven leaders across the pack and the collective ownership has come through in spades.
“Guys have pushed each other on, they’ve fought together, added their bit when they needed to, and I think it’s driven the team to new heights.”
