Boys put in a hard shift - Vunipola
Mako Vunipola was happy with how Saracens responded to their first half display against Northampton Saints.
The Men in Black led at half-time by two points before producing some excellent rugby in the second period to record a handsome 63-13 at Franklin’s Gardens.
Sarries prop Vunipola scored the visitors’ second of seven tries after the interval to help strengthen the Wolfpack’s grip on second place in the Aviva Premiership.
“We had to bounce back and have a response and the boys put in a hard shift,” he said.
“It wasn’t the best first half but we knew Northampton were going to come out of the blocks.
“We knew this was going to be the hardest game we played against them this year so I’m very pleased with the result and happy to get full points.”
Next up for Saracens is a home encounter against Bath who suffered a 34-19 defeat to Leicester Tigers at Twickenham on Saturday.
The West Country outfit lie eighth in the table, 10 points adrift of the top four but Vunipola is sensing a hard battle at Allianz Park.
He said: “We know there’s a lot more to work on and we know it’s a tough test coming up.
“We’re a confident side and that comes from the belief we have in each other in this squad. We did a good job and we’ll look on what we can do to improve and put a good performance in against Bath.”
