British and Irish Lions name team for series deciding match

The British and Irish Lions have named their team to take on New Zealand on Saturday at Auckland’s Eden Park. 5 Sarries have been included in an unchanged starting XV with Mako Vunipola, Jamie George, Maro Itoje, Owen Farrell and Liam Williams all set to feature.

This weekend’s game is a truly mouth-watering affair, and has been hotly anticipated after events in Wellington in the 2nd test. The Kiwi capital’s Westpac Stadium was the venue for an enthralling encounter that saw the Lions run out 24-21 winners in a game that forced the hosts to rethink their backline after Sonny Bill Williams was sent off in the 24th minute for a dangerous challenge.

That challenge on Anthony Watson has seen Sonny Bill suspended for 4 weeks, meaning the formidable inside centre is unavailable for the final clash that will decide the winner of the series.

The Lions, however, will be looking to record back-to-back victories over New Zealand in an almighty showdown. The home side haven’t lost at the infamous Eden Park since 1994- longer than some of the players starting for the All Blacks on Saturday have been alive.

The tourists’ attacking potential, seen last week through tries from Taulupe Faletau and Conor Murray, their impressive and effective midfield combinations and suffocating defence are all set to challenge the hosts in a tantalising fixture.

Touring fans of the British and Irish Lions have been in fine voice throughout the tournament, and really made themselves heard as the 16th man in Wellington, so another electric atmosphere is expected as the two sides to go at each other hammer and tongs to claim victory in the series decider.
