Burger Looking Forward To Wasps Challenge
Schalk Burger has said that improvement is a continual process as he and his Saracens teammates prepare to take on Wasps at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday.
Burger played against Worcester last weekend as Sarries secured a bonus-point win at Allianz Park but says that there is much to improve on from that display.
The flanker said: “Last weekend had a very good 40 minutes of rugby, between our lulls it was good rugby; it was a good win for us and we’ve just got to work on certain areas we’ve got to improve.
“It’s been quite satisfying the last few weeks but we’ve got to play some good stuff, we’ve got to improve in areas where maybe the previous weeks we weren’t so good; it’s a continual process.”
The Men in Black have risen to second place in the Aviva Premiership table in recent weeks and come into the game off the back of two strong wins against Worcester and Leicester but Burger says that he is expecting a different challenge this weekend.
He explained: “Wasps are in great form and it’s going to be tough to go to the Ricoh, it’s a bit of a fortress for them but we’re looking forward to the challenge and it’s a nice game to be a part of.
“It’s always a big crowd up there, a big stadium and it’s a big game in terms of the league table as well with second facing third.“
Wasps most recently beat Bath at the Recreation Ground and are starting to show the form that took them to the Premiership Final last year and Burger is under no illusions as to the task at hand.
The 34-year-old said: “We’re coming up against a quality side, Wasps were probably battling a bit in the early part of the season but the last few weeks they’ve been playing some great stuff and seem to be hitting their straps.”
