Captain's Comments - Brad Barritt
Good afternoon and I hope you are looking forward to tomorrow as much as we are.
A European Rugby Champions Cup home Quarter Final against Northampton Saints…it doesn’t get much bigger or exciting than this!
Big games between Sarries and Saints in knock-out rugby have become the norm in recent years. With the record between us, being very equal. Yet, to play them in a European Quarter Final gives tomorrow’s fixture an extra edge and it's a game I know that we have been eagerly anticipating since the end of the Pool stages earlier this season.
A home Quarter Final at Allianz Park is something that we have worked extremely hard for, and it’s the first time we have gone into the playoffs as the top qualifier. To go six games unbeaten is feat that isn’t achieved often so to go away to beat teams like Ulster and Toulouse in their own back yard, plus Oyonnax who have had a strong home record in the past, was a huge achievement by this group, and one that we can be proud of.
However, heading into a game like this you want to have the best possible preparation and our form over the last few games can give us a lot of confidence. We’ve used the games to get everyone back up to speed at the Club and we’re eager to make that happen again tomorrow, and put in a performance we can be proud of.
Our European form has been fantastic but it counts for nothing when we get out there on the park. This is knockout rugby, with no second chances. We’re up against a formidable team on Saturday. We are going to have to be on the money.
Thanks for your support and please continue to make some noise for the team!
