Charlie Hodgson To Receive RPA Special Merit Award
The Rugby Players’ Association (RPA) have announced that Saracens’ Charlie Hodgson is set to receive the RPA Special Merit Award at the RPA Awards night on Wednesday 11th May in London.
The award is voted for the RPA Players’ Board and is awarded for an outstanding contribution to the game.
Hodgson, who joined Saracens from Sale Sharks in 2011, is currently the Aviva Premiership’s record point scoring having amassed 2,594 points in the tournament over his career. He played his 250th Premiership game when Saracens beat Harlequins at Wembley Stadium and has also won two Premiership titles and earnt 38 England caps as well as touring with the British and Irish Lions over the course of his career.
Speaking to the RPA after receiving the news Hodgson said “I’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy a long and successful career and it’s an honour to receive an award voted for by my peers. The RPA is a fantastic organisation and the support they provide for players is invaluable. I look forward to joining the RPA and their guests on the night to celebrate what has been a fantastic season.”
