Crossdale delighted by Stoop experience
Ali Crossdale was delighted to be part of Saracens’ win over Harlequins at a packed out Twickenham Stoop.
It was the youngster’s sixth appearance for the first team, his first in front of a sell-out crowd.
“I absolutely loved it,” he said.
“Experiences like this with a full crowd at The Stoop is something you can’t really replicate in the Premiership Rugby Shield and it’s not like anything I’ve experienced before.
“To have that opportunity was just fantastic and hopefully going into the semi-final it will be the same kind of experience.”
Sarries scored four tries to secure a place in the Premiership Rugby Cup semi-finals, with their opponents to be determined following Worcester Warriors’ match against Wasps this weekend.
Crossdale hailed the Men in Black’s display against an experienced Quins side and is relishing the opportunity of a last-four encounter.
“The lads are absolutely over the moon, we put absolutely everything into that performance,” he said.
“It’s the kind of performance we’ve been waiting for in this competition and everyone stepped up to the plate.
“It’s awesome to be in the semi-final. Everything we prepared came off. We talked about putting pressure on their kickers which is what Joel (Kpoku) did and we talked about getting options around the ball; Ralph (Adams-Hale) went straight through, showed some great wheels to offload to Max (Malins). It’s a shame he didn’t score it himself!
“The last move was everything we’d been working on in the backs, picking them off and then Roti goes clean through which was lovely to see.
“There’s still areas to work on so we’ll go again and look at the things we need work on, hopefully take that same performance into the semi-final and go from there.”
