Earl delighted with try on first Premiership start

Ben Earl scored his first Aviva Premiership on his first start in the competition against Exeter Chiefs on Sunday.

The openside flanker collected Marcelo Bosch’s delicate offload on a punching line and showed his pace to wheel away from Exeter backs Phil Dollman and Olly Woodburn to slide under the posts.

Academy product Earl’s delight was shown in his celebration and the youngster feels the 24-12 defeat wasn’t an accurate representation of how Saracens played.

“It was a great feeling to score. It was a hell of an offload from Chelo (Bosch) and I was just thankful for that,” he told Saracens.com.

“I think we dug in really well and the scoreline doesn’t quite reflect how the game went. We were in the battle for the full 80 minutes and the boys fronted up.

“We spoke about the game not being about the result but the process and how we carried ourselves, and I think we showed ourselves in a good light.”
