Sean Maitland and Liam Williams both scored as Scotland and Wales picked up wins on the final weekend of the Six Nations.
New Zealand-born Maitland slid over for the Scots’ third against Italy to put them in touching distance of the Azzurri before a late Greig Laidlaw penalty secured a narrow 29-27 victory in Rome.
After Francois Trinh-Duc’s drop goal put France into a very early lead, Wales capitalised from the restart with Williams punishing the French 10’s hesitance, collecting and dotting down in the corner.
Warren Gatland’s men went into half-time with a slender advantage and held on to earn second place in the table.
Elsewhere, England’s Saracens sextet were involved in a defeat to Ireland at Twickenham.
With Eddie Jones’ side 14-0 down, Owen Farrell – on his 50th start for his country – put a cute dab through for Elliot Daly to score.
The Irish furthered their lead through another first-half try and efforts from Daly and Jonny May couldn’t scupper their Grand Slam party on St. Patrick’s Day.
