Euro glory down to collective spirit - Farrell
Saracens have been crowned Champions of Europe after defeating Racing 92 at the Grand Stade de Lyon in a bruising and tense encounter.
Seven penalties from Owen Farrell inflicted the damage as the north Londoners defeated the star-studded Parisian outfit 21-9 to lift the club’s first ever European trophy.
Speaking after the game, match winner Farrell praised his teammate’s collective effort in what proved to be a historic day for the club,
"It's a great moment for the club,” said Farrell. “To play against brilliant teams like Racing and come out on top is amazing. I'm just glad I can kick the points over.
“The forwards worked so hard to put us in positions for me. We lost momentum for a good while in that 20 minutes and we got it back with a few good turnovers and a few good defensive sets. It shows how calm we are. We didn't panic.
“We've been brilliant all week and we treated it like any other game. For Brad (Barritt) to lift this trophy is going to be something that everyone here remembers for a long, long time."
